Environment and Energy Innovation
The purpose of the Township's Environment and Energy Innovation Committee is:
- To provide leadership within the community in environment and energy conservation;
- To protect and enhance our natural environment, and to educate our residents on innovative ideas that are available to make our community more energy efficient; and
- To support the goals of Future Oxford and the County of Oxford to be zero waste by 2025 and 100% renewable by 2050.
The Environment and Energy Innovation Committee meetings take place on the first Wednesday of the month at 4:30 p.m., at the Township Office, in the Council Chambers. All Committee meetings are open to the public. View upcoming meeting dates, agendas, and meeting minutes below.
At their meeting on May 16, 2023, Council dissolved the Township's Zero Waste Committee and amended the Terms of Reference for this Committee to include responsibilities in relation to the Township's zero waste initiatives. View the report on the Council Agenda.

Engage and Inform
The purpose of the Township's Engage and Inform Committee is to create a community where everyone feels a sense of belonging and actively engages in the community. Key themes of the Committee, which direct their work, include:
- Social Responsibility;
- Communication;
- Active Living; and
- Safety and Security.

SWOX Housing Opportunities
The purpose of the SWOX Housing Opportunities Committee is to make recommendations to Township staff and Council with respect to addressing attainable housing needs and initiatives within the community, including any recommendations during Township budget deliberations with respect to housing initiatives and/or proposed capital expenditures. The Committee is tasked with seeking opportunities to work with the County of Oxford in their 100% housed commitment.
The Committee's responsibilities include the following:
- Assist the Township and provide recommendations on taking a leadership role with respect to the consideration of various housing options within the Township and the County of Oxford;
- The SWOX Housing Opportunities Committee acts as a resource, information gathering, and advisory body to Township Council on housing needs within the community;
- Monitor and obtain information on the local housing market, identify trends and emerging housing needs in the community, and recommend action where appropriate;
- Provide advice and make recommendations regarding affordable housing initiatives and priorities within the community;
- Explore options for facilitating outside partnerships/involvement for new housing; and
- The committee will not be directly involved in providing social housing within the community (this is an upper tier responsibility). However, they may consider facilitating discussion in this regard should the opportunity arise with available land or interest from developers.

Oxford O.P.P. Detachment Board 2 (Rural)
The Oxford O.P.P. Detachment Board 2 provides civilian oversight of the provision of police service to the Township of Blandford-Blenheim, Township of East-Zorra Tavistock, Township of Norwich, Township of South-West Oxford and Township of Zorra. The Townships contract the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) to provide police services and is required to have a Detachment Board under Section 61(1) of the Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019.
